Well, I guess we could argue either way or perhaps it is both equally. I just know that when someone does something nice for me, I get a real kick from giving them something to say thanks. My goto is to say thanks with flowers or a potted plant or equally giving a bottle of wine (or a case 🙂 goes a long way as well. Do you believe in karma maybe – what goes around comes around…. Do unto others…. You get the point. Giving makes the world go round and I for one love the practice. This is even possible when the person is overseas, I recently had to send flowers to Canada to say thank-you to a hotel concierge for finding and returning my sunglasses. This ended up costing a lot of money, but the benefits are not just short term. Think about it; the concierge will remember my kindness next time he finds someone else item and will go out of his/her way to get it returned. Plus I got a kick out of the surprise he got and the kind note he emailed back.
