Citrophilus mealybug

Citrophilus mealybug is common throughout the major fruit growing regions of the North Island and in Nelson, but has not been recorded further south. It is originally an Australian species but is now a widespread cosmopolitan pest. It was introduced to New Zealand last century, the first record being in 1878.

Citrophilus mealybug attacks a wide range of crops in addition to pipfruit, including citrus and persimmon.
