| Citrophilus
mealybug Citrophilus mealybug is common
throughout the major fruit growing regions of the North
Island and in Nelson, but has not been recorded further
south. It is originally an Australian species but is now
a widespread cosmopolitan pest. It was introduced to New
Zealand last century, the first record being in 1878.
Citrophilus mealybug attacks a wide range of crops in
addition to pipfruit, including citrus and persimmon.
