Oystershell scale - Adult females

These pictures show a young female (left) and an old female (right) which has lost its bright yellow colouring. Both have had their grey-brown scale cover lifted to show the soft body of the insect beneath. The scale cover is visible in the top left of the righthand picture. A single egg and crawler are visible close to the old female and a group of dispersing crawlers can be seen around the young female.
