Lightbrown apple moth - Host plants

Lightbrown apple moth caterpillars have been recorded on more than 250 plant species. While many of these are true host plants which enable the insect to complete its full life cycle, others may be only temporary hosts for the caterpillars which move off onto other host plants. Some of the more important and common hosts are: apples, pears, grapes, citrus varieties, stonefruits, black and red currants, kiwifruit, hops, red and white clovers, lucerne, lupin, tree lupin, gorse, broom, plantain, chrysanthemum, michaelmas daisy and many other commonly cultivated flowering plants, various shrubs (especially acacias), and conifers in the young stages of growth. Many shelter species are excellent hosts of leafrollers. Wherever possible, new plantings should use non-hosts, such as Casuarina spp. (sheoke) and bamboo.
