| Possible woolly apple aphid predator - praying mantis, Orthodera ministralis |
|---|
Although recognized as an aphid predator, it is not known if the praying mantis feeds on woolly apple aphid in New Zealand pipfruit orchards. It is regularly encountered in orchards using organic or IFP production methods. The mantis captures its prey with its long grasping forelegs, which are tucked under the head (right) when at rest.
