| Woolly apple aphid predator - lacewing, Drepanacra binocula |
|---|
This lacewing is recorded as a predator of woolly apple aphid and other aphid species. Like the brown lacewing, it is thought to have been introduced to New Zealand by accident. First records were in 1863. Although both the adults and larvae are predatory, it is much less common in pipfruit orchards than the brown lacewing, and probably makes only a small contribution to control of woolly apple aphid.
