Rhyzobius sp., a ladybird predator of oystershell scale

This ladybird has been found feeding on oystershell scale in Central Otago. It chews through the scale covering using its powerful mandibles, leaving a characteristic hole in the scale. The larval stage of this ladybird also feeds on oystershell scale.
