Predatory thrips, Haplothrips kurdjumovi, a predator of mussel scale

 

	This predatory thrips is better known as a predator of European red mite, but it has a wide range of prey, including mussel scale. Both the adult (left) and larval stages (below) are predatory, and they are reported to feed on crawlers and eggs of mussel scale.
