| Brownheaded leafrollers - Fecundity |
|---|
The number of eggs produced by brownheaded leafrollers is highly variable.
| Average fecundity in the laboratory (freeze-dried apple leaves) | 58 - 429 eggs/female | |
| Average fecundity in the laboratory (artificial diet) | 739 eggs/female | |
| Range of fecundity (apple leaves) | not available* | |
| Range of fecundity (artificial diet) | 200 - 1223 eggs/female |
Variation in fecundity is determined primarily by weather conditions, and probably the quality and succession of host plants. *Brownheaded leafroller females which had been fed freeze-dried apple leaves as larvae produced an average of 193-429 eggs at 11.5oC, an average of 58-143 eggs at 18oC , and an average of 69-182 eggs at 22.5oC.
