San Jose scale - male monitoring with pheromone traps

The rubber pheromone cap is just visible in the trap (left). The trap is coated with adhesive and the grid pattern (left and right) assists when counting the male scale insects. A more recent design has the sticky surfaces folded outwards and the cap inserted in a hole towards the top of the trap.
