Oystershell scale and other scale insects - chemical control

Thiacloprid (CalypsoTM)
Calypso
TM is a neonicotinoid insecticide which is toxic to scale insects, mealy bugs, and woolly apple aphid. It is systemic and has the advantage of being partially selective, allowing the survival of some natural enemies. It can also be used in the post-bloom period (N.B. observe withholding period) and this makes CalypsoTM one of the products of choice in IFP for the control of scale insects in summer.

In IFP, the spraying of CalypsoTM for scale control in summer must be justified by monitoring. It is most effective at the time of crawler release and should be applied at the optimum timing for your region.
