| Mealybug - Thresholds and actions |
|---|
From the data collected at the previous harvest assessment, the treatments in the Table should be applied in the following spring. If you are entering your first year of IFP, and do not know the history of mealybug levels in your orchard, it is recommended that a cautious approach be adopted i.e. assume that the fruits were infested above the threshold at the previous harvest. This will require the sprays detailed below. Spray reductions may then be possible in the following season.
| Harvest thresholds for next season treatments (all mealybug species combined) | |||
| IF | no mealybug was present on the fruit | THEN | An application of oil + ApplaudŽ or oil + chlorpyrifos at green-tip is highly recommended |
| IF | more than 0.5% of fruit infested with mealybug or fruit destined for U.S.A. | THEN | a tight-cluster application of ApplaudŽ is recommended in addition to the above application |
| IF | more than 1% of fruit infested with mealybug or fruit destined for U.S.A. | THEN | an application of CalypsoTM is recommended in late November/early December in addition to the above applications |
Please ensure that these applications are made dilute and sprayers are configured correctly. Oil should not be used at green-tip on oil sensitive cultivars such as Cox's Orange. Insecticide alone should be applied instead.
