go back Webbing of foliage by twospotted spider mites
test image test image test image

Twospotted spider mite feeding results in loss of green leaf pigment (chlorophyll) from the leaves. Leaf yellowing (chlorosis) and defoliation results from high density and persistent mite populations. While there are similarities between damage by different mite pests, chlorosis is a characteristic of twospotted spider mite whereas severe damage by European red mite is typified by leaf bronzing. Twospotted spider mites also cause damage by infecting the fruit with orange (overwintering) adult females at harvest time. Twospotted spider mites spin webs over foliage, particularly when populations are high.
