go back Yellow wings and body - Froggatt's apple leafhopper adults
test image test image test image test image

Froggatt's apple leafhopper is the only leafhopper pest of apples in New Zealand. It is not a pest of pears. As its name implies, the adult hops when disturbed and its bright yellow colour distinguishes it from other insects. High numbers may be encountered on unsprayed apple trees, associated with characteristic yellow spotting damage to the foliage and honeydew production. There is a closely related species on brambles which does not damage apples.
