Leafcurling midges include two species of small flies
which lay their eggs on the shoot tips of either apples and
pears. Feeding by the fly maggots causes tight rolling of the
edges of leaves. This is sometimes severe enough to cause
shoot distortion, and higher populations can result in
infestation of the fruit at harvest.
