Graphania mutans caterpillar

On the right is the newly hatched (neonate) caterpillar which has been highly magnified. Groups of these tiny caterpillars can be seen feeding on foliage in spring, after they have hatched from egg batches (left). As they grow larger, they move from the trees to ground cover to feed.
