Graphania mutans caterpillar

This older caterpillar has been reared on plantain leaves. Most of the young caterpillars of G. mutans descend from the trees to the ground cover of the orchard, where they feed on a variety of pasture plants. When artificially prevented from descending to the ground cover, the large caterpillars can cause severe damage!
