Brownheaded leafroller newly hatched caterpillar

The brownheaded leafroller is named after the brown head of the fully fed caterpillar. The head capsules of younger caterpillars are variable in colour and often very dark brown, almost black. However, these features cannot be used reliably to separate brownheaded leafroller, greenheaded leafroller and lightbrown apple moth.
