Pointed Straight Proboscis Aphid-like, Wingless (apterous)

New Zealand is fortunate to be free of an important group of aphid-like pests of pipfruit called psyllids. It is critical that the pear psylla, in particular, is not introduced to this country. In addition, woolly apple aphid is the only major aphid pest of apples in New Zealand. Various other green aphids occur incidentally on apple but we are fortunate not to have the other major aphid pests seen overseas.
