Nymphs of Orius vicinus - a predatory bug sometimes called a pirate bug

This predatory bug was discovered in Otago in 1992 and has since been found in Canterbury. It feeds on a wide variety of insects and mites, including European red mite, twospotted spider mite, rust mites, aphids, and Froggatt's apple leafhopper (see picture).
