go back Codling moth pupae

The caterpillars of codling moth spin their cocoons under the bark, and in a variety of holes and crevices in the trunk and main branches of the tree. The overwintering caterpillars change to pupae in the spring. Where there is more than one generation per year, the summer generation(s) of larvae make thinner-walled cocoons and pupate soon afterwards, leading to the second or third generations of adult moths.
