Egg-Like, Batches of eggs in the soil

Few pest of apples and pears lay their eggs in the soil. However, the wheat bug lays clusters of eggs in cracks in the soil. For these photographs, the wheat bugs were induced to lay batches on a grooved wooden surface (left) or individually in cotton wool (right).
