Egg laying scars in the leaf midrib caused by the pirate bug, Orius vicinus

Orius vicinus lays its eggs into the midrib of the leaf. Egg laying (oviposition) scars may occur singly or in small groups. The large numbers shown here were produced during rearing of the bugs in the laboratory.
